Why should you advocate for young children?
We believe there are 4 basic frameworks to answer this question

  1. Educational Impact- It is well documented that children who attend a quality early education program do better in school. Children who start kindergarten behind tend to stay behind and about a 1/3 of our children start kindergarten behind.
  1. Short & Long Term Economical Impact– Investment in early education has a proven impact on the success of children in school, work and life with a return on investment from $5 to $15 for every $1 spent. This investment is an effective way to reduce long term economic issues such as welfare, high drop out rates and crime.
  1. Early Brain Development Impact- Breakthroughs in neuro-science have shown that early education experiences are critical to brain development. A child’s brain is largely created after birth with 50 trillion connections at birth and 1000 trillion by age 3.
  1. The Right Thing to Do- All Children should have the best start in life! Will you speak for them?

School success is built on language success. For children in poverty the exposure to language is much less in the first 4 years and almost 26% of Kentucky’s children live in poverty according to the Children’s Defense fund (2011)
