The Character Effect™, a partnership between Children, Inc. and Beech Acres Parenting Center, combines mindfulness and character strengths into an exciting new framework for classrooms.

TCE brings the evidence-based science of positive psychology and mindfulness to build on the innate strengths of children, teachers and parents within the school community. The Character Effect™ is designed to improve students’ self-control, increase positive classroom participation, cultivate an atmosphere of respect for others, and boost overall self-confidence. It also supports a sense of self-efficacy of classroom teachers.  The program can also improve acceptance, understanding and communication between parents and children in the home.

Not just for students, teachers learn their own strengths and harness the power of mindfulness for themselves first, which then allows them to model for their students. TCE creates a common positive language that is consistent for students, parents, and teachers. This makes it easier for everyone to communicate and support each other.  To view all 24 Character Strengths, click here.  To learn more about The Character Effect, click here.
