An important component in high quality child care is the ongoing professional development of staff. Children, Inc. is committed to offering opportunities for continued learning that enhance the knowledge and skills of child care and early childhood education professionals. Children, Inc. is Northern Kentucky’s leader in training early childhood professionals, aligning their curriculum with Kentucky’s Early Learning Standards and helping programs provide quality child assessments. Children, Inc. Director of Training Chris Kelley is one of 5 Master Trainers in the State of Kentucky and works to train the trainers; she specializes in the transference of learning.
Devereux Early Childhood Regional Training Center
Children, Inc. partners with the Devereux Early Childhood Initiative to provide nationally certified Devereux Early Childhood Assessment training, technical assistance, demonstration classrooms and support research on the Devereux Early Childhood materials. The Devereux Regional Early Childhood Center strives to promote resilience in young children in its 3-state region, as well as through its collaboration with the Consortium for Resilient Young Children in Cincinnati and the Covington (KY) Resilience Project. Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education (GCCME)
GCCME provides quality instruction to individuals who wish to become certified Montessori teachers. The course includes independent study, academic workshops and student teaching under the guidance of an experienced Montessori teacher. The program is designed to accommodate individuals who are working full time and wish to pursue a career in Montessori education. GCCME is affiliated with the American Montessori society and is accredited through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education. Children, Inc. runs the only Montessori Teacher Training program within 100 miles that offers a national teacher certificate in Montessori that trains both infant/toddler Montessori teachers and preschool Montessori teachers. Child Development Associate
Each school year since 1995, Children, Inc. has conducted a state-approved training course toward completion of the national CDA credential. This course, taught by master trainer Chris Kelley, provides all of the required 120 hours in the 8 CDA subject areas. CDA classes are designed for individuals currently working with children ages birth through 5 years in licensed early care and education centers and family child care homes. A CDA credential is recognized nationwide as an indicator of competence in the field of early childhood education. Many lead teachers and directors in child care centers hold the CDA credential. The CDA credential is often a first step toward subsequent degrees and certifications in the field of early care and education. Click here to learn more.
Continuing Education Units
In order to provide the utmost in care and development for the children we serve Children, Inc. employees attend regular trainings to receive instruction on various topics from CPR to dialogic reading. Because these training sessions are only open to Children, Inc. staff we also offer Continuing Education Units for educators who need courses in order to fulfill their annual requirements.
