"The measure of an organization is not just what it achieves within its own programs, but what it dreams and changes by working with others."
— Rick Hulefeld - Children, Inc. Executive Director
From a single promise in 1977 to bring families and children the best in early learning and care, a single center - Cathedral Child Development Center - began a transformation into what would become one of the largest not-for-profit child care providers in Kentucky. Today, there are 9 centers, a Family Child Care program with over 50 home providers, more than 75 school age programs in 45 Northern Kentucky Elementary schools and a home visitation program serving 250 first-time parents and families. Each day over 3000 children are impacted by Children, Inc.’s skilled and nurturing staff. Through direct services, education, advocacy and collaboration, Children, Inc. is dedicated to creating a world that understands young children and their needs.
Team Imagine Tomorrow
Team Imagine Tomorrow can be a way for you and your friends, family or organization to spend time working with children. We need volunteers to plan special events, work directly with children on a regular basis and conduct special one day projects in our programs.
Special Events
Team Imagine Tomorrow is looking for volunteers who will help coordinate and conduct special events to generate income or community awareness for Children, Inc. and its programs. We need those who have an interest or skills in marketing and public relations, organizational and planning skills, computer skills and community contacts.
Corporate Sponsorship
All of our events need corporate sponsorship. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in interacting with the business community and asking for what an event may need. We are looking for volunteers who are available and willing to help set-up, conduct and tear down an event.
Classroom Volunteers
Do you have special gifts you can share with our classrooms? Would you like to spend time reading to the children or helping during art projects? How about center special events; graduation, family events, field trips, playground beautification, and much more?
We are looking for parents and grandparents to volunteer in our programs. Please talk with your child's classroom teacher or center director to see how you can get involved! We would love to have you volunteer with as little or as much time as you can afford to give.

Other Volunteer Opportunities include:
- Serving on the Board of Directors. Professionals and other individuals with a particular skill or talent help guide the agency and provide leadership in policy-making and corporate activity such as Strategic Planning.
- Internships and practicum experiences are open to students attending universities or technical colleges who are pursuing a degree or certificate in the fields of child care, education, human services, social work, music, art, or other areas. There are opportunities to interact with children and develop skills related to their particular area of study and gain valuable experience.
- On-site community service for high school students is available. During the school year students visit the classrooms or after school programs. They interact with the children, read, help with classroom projects, or simply talk with the children. A schedule for ongoing visits throughout the school year is pre-arranged by school faculty and Children, Inc. staff. Students can also participate in one time community care projects such as playground cleanup days, sponsorship of holiday parties, collection of materials from a wish list, or by coordinating a gently used book drive at their school.
